Elementary Algebra

Elementary Algebra by Harold R. Jacobs (Author). Suitable for either classroom use or self-paced examine, Jacobs's popular text combines actual-life examples, rigorously structured workout routines, and humor to help college students learn and remember.

This e book is the very best textbook for a collection of programs in pre-algebra and basic algebra that I have ever encountered. There is no assumption of preliminary knowledge other than some familiarity with basic arithmetic. Even that could be very restricted, a student in the late elementary faculty would perceive the material of the first few chapters. The pedagogy is the correct one for the center and early high school student. A number of, generally three or less, pages of recent material adopted by a large set of exercises. Diagrams are extensively used, and youngsters will love the inclusion of the cartoons. Most of the cartoons are from the Wizard of Id and Peanuts strips. Solutions to most of the exercises are included in an appendix.

If there is a criticism that may be leveled in opposition to this book it is that it strikes too slow. There are occasions when it may be argued that a couple of sections could possibly be combined. Nonetheless, that does not forestall the instructor from combining them in the event that they wish. Due to this fact, I consider the purpose to be weak; it's at all times higher to maneuver too slowly than to move too fast.

It is a terrific algebra guide with easy, simple-to-observe explanations and issues in each section which progress from simple to challenging. Jacobs does a superb job of relating principles of algebra to on a regular basis activities and attracts fascinating info from history and literature to have interaction the learner in each chapter. A great collection of comics and jokes make it fun! There are solutions in the back of the e-book for a few of issues in every part, so you can verify your work. This has been an incredible ebook to assist my 13-year-old overview what he realized final youear!
