Convex Optimization

Convex Optimization by Stephen Boyd (Author), Lieven Vandenberghe (Author). Convex optimization problems arise incessantly in many various fields. A comprehensive introduction to the topic, this e-book shows intimately how such issues might be solved numerically with nice efficiency. The main focus is on recognizing convex optimization issues and then discovering probably the most appropriate approach for fixing them. The text comprises many worked examples and homework workouts and can enchantment to students, researchers and practitioners in fields such as engineering, laptop science, mathematics, statistics, finance, and economics.

This is a completely great work on the subject. It delivers exactly what the preface guarantees -- a very comprehensive introduction to convex optimization for users. Furthermore, it delivers way more, for it's extremely effectively-written and unusually accessible. It is a pleasure to read.

The guide excels in readability and style. A perfect stability on the theoretical and sensible aspets of the convex optimization. As the identify implies, and likewise as the authors put in preface, it's about recognizing, formulating, and fixing convex optimization problems. Gives needed mathematical background in the first half---not as deeply as a graduate stage convex analysis guide---and therefore helps reader build a working knowledge. If one thing is not covered on this part but important for a working information, then it's in the appendices for sure. Gives a wealth of examples, exercises, and applications. Perfect for self-examine as well as classroom use.

This is a superb text on optimization. The pdf version is free on the net. First I got the pdf model, I like the writing type and the way authors have described the concepts. Then I ordered the hard print. The print quality is great and its an ideal e-book to have!

Boyd's and Vanderbergue's e-book affords loads: good intuition to theoretical convex optimization and its instruments, refined descriptions of many convex optimization applications, many examples and exercises. Mixed with the web material of slides and videolectures by Boyd, exercise options, and matlab software, it is rather well suited to classroom use, and a very good start line for the functions oriented reader.
